Drawing is the air I breathe and the water I drink
Â
I visualize and think by drawing. Like freewriting, not everything I draw is useful but one idea leads to another or sparks a fire. Revisiting my sketchbooks is a daily ritual. I build ideas from my imagination, observation and assemblage. I keep a sketchbook with me wherever I go. When I travel, I stop to draw and record the people, places, and small details I encounter around the world. Some pages are studies; others begin as questions or ideas for future work. Inspiration is all around us, but the habit of listening, observing and drawing regularly helps me recognize it.
